September 22, 2018 6:33:30The first thing you should know about an English Major is that the word “major” doesn’t mean what you think it means.
English majors are a diverse group of students with diverse interests and abilities.
They range from aspiring writers to professors.
Some majored in the sciences, some majored only in humanities, and some majors in social sciences.
You’ll see students studying in areas like architecture, law, accounting, history, linguistics, and philosophy.
The University of Arizona offers a list of majors available online, and you can also find an outline of the majors you should consider at the UA website.
But the key is to choose one that you can apply to.
The list of the most popular majors in the U.S. includes:• Creative Writing: Arts majors such as the Fine Arts and Design program, Theatre majors like the Dramatic Arts Program, Music majors like The Performing Arts Program and the Theatre Arts Program.• Art History: History majors such the History Department, College of Arts and Sciences, and the College of Design.• Classics: College of Music, College, and College of Veterinary Medicine.• English: English majors, such as students studying at the University of California at Berkeley and the University at Albany.• Geography: Geography majors, including the College and College and Department of Geography and Geosciences, as well as the College’s College of Engineering.• Foreign Language: Foreign Language majors, as many are in the College at the City University of New York.• History: Students studying at The New School in New York City, the University College London, and other universities.• Latin American and Caribbean Studies: Students from Brazil and Argentina studying in the Graduate School at Georgetown University.• Management: Business majors, particularly in the Business School at the U of Texas at Austin.• Modern Languages and Linguistics: History, Classics, English, and Philosophy majors.
The UA’s online catalog of majors offers a wealth of information.
But what if you don’t have the time to browse?
If you’re a single student with limited financial resources, you can search for an English minor on your own.
You can even get help to do it on your laptop or tablet.
You may even want to get advice on the major from a graduate school advisor.
If you don.t have the money to do that, consider enrolling in a one-on-one program with a real professor.
These are great resources for your first year of study.
