President Donald Trump has not spoken to the White Street press corps since the first day of his presidency, sources told Breitbart News.
Trump has only spoken with White House Chief of Staff John Kelly.
A White House spokesperson told Breitbart that Trump “has no plans to meet” with the press corps, adding that the president will not address the press until the end of his vacation in Florida.
A spokesperson for the WhiteHousePress Corps did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The White House has maintained a “very strong” relationship with the Washington Post, Breitbart News has learned.
The relationship has extended beyond Trump’s inaugural, with the paper being a major source of news during his first year in office.
White House spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders said during the first week of January that “the White House would welcome the Washington, D.C., newspaper with open arms, but will not meet with them.”
Sanders added that the Whitehouse “would like to have more opportunities to work with them in the future.”
The Whitehouse Press Corps is one of the only major American newspapers that has not had a sitting president in office for more than a year, with no major news organizations in the White Houses daily schedules.
The White House did not respond to requests for comment on how the White house would respond to the daily briefings given by Kelly, Spicer, and Press Secretary Sean Spicer.
A White House official said the White Senate press corps “has a much more positive outlook” on Trump, which is “not necessarily a bad thing.”
Kelly is the White HOUSE Chief of Operations, the most senior administration official tasked with leading the press.
Kelly is also responsible for White House Press Corps briefings.
He is also a frequent and prominent speaker at press conferences.
Kelly has been a consistent presence at the Whitehouses daily briefings.
During the first weeks of his tenure, Kelly spoke more than twice as often as his predecessor, press secretary Sean Spicer, according to White House data.
Kelly has been the primary spokesperson for President Donald J. Trump, and was instrumental in helping to develop the president’s agenda during his presidential campaign.
Kelly’s relationship with Kelly and Spicer, though, has not been as positive.
Kelly, who was fired by President Donald Trumps predecessor, Donald Trump, has been largely absent from the press briefings, with Kelly speaking to the press only twice since his appointment to the position in January.
Whitehouse Press Corp. reporters have spoken to reporters on three separate occasions, and a source familiar with the relationship between the White Whitehouse press corps and the press told Breitbart last week that Kelly is “still not in the [White House press] mood.”
A spokesperson for WhiteHouse Press Corps said the president “has not spoken with the media until the last day of [his] vacation.”
A Whitehouse spokesperson also told Breitbart “the president will meet with WhiteHouse press corps until the conclusion of his summer vacation.”
A spokesperson said that the press is a key source of information for the president and his administration.
WhiteHousePress Corp. spokesperson Sarah Sanders said “the [Whitehouse] press corps has a much less positive outlook on President Trump than they did prior to his inauguration.”
Sanders also said that “we have seen the press focus on the White, House and Capitol in the first month of his administration.”
