In his first major title, Yale English Major Paul Adams was named national champion for his performance at the Yale English Department.
Adams was chosen to represent the U.S. in the International English Conference this weekend in New York City.
The winner of the title, an all-American English major, was awarded $50,000 for his efforts.
Adams is one of many Yale English majors who have taken on national championships, including a national title in 2017.
He earned the title in 2015, the year of the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) new academic year.
The award will mark Adams’ fifth major title in six years.
In 2015, he won the National Championship in the School of Visual Arts.
Adams won the 2017 title in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
